Saint James School to Welcome a New Principal

Below is Monsignor Cronin's bulletin announcement welcoming Mrs. Florendo to SJS:

My dear friends:

It is with great joy that I write today to let you know that after an extended search, we have hired a principal for Saint James School. Mrs. Suzanne Florendo will be joining us effective July 1, 2017.

Mrs. Florendo comes to us with a wealth of school experience that includes teaching middle school math as well as kindergarten and pre-kindergarten. For the past eight years, Mrs. Florendo has served as vice-principal at St. Bartholomew Academy in Scotch Plains, a Pre-K through grade 8 school located within the Archdiocese of Newark. She will be working closely with Sr. Joann Marie, SCC, the Director of St. James School.

Sr. Joann Marie will continue to oversee the daily functioning of St. James, developing and executing advancement plans for the school. Mrs. Florendo will report to the Director, and her responsibilities will be centered on curriculum and all the academic aspects of the school. I believe this combination of experience and talents that Sr. Joann Marie and Mrs. Florendo bring together, will produce a wonderful balance that will grow a strong Catholic identity and solid academic substance while ensuring a robust future for St. James School.

I know that you will welcome Mrs. Florendo to our parish and school family and support her in all her efforts at Saint James, for students to encompass the desire to learn through a religious, interdisciplinary curriculum. It is my sincere hope that you will be as excited as Sr. Joann Marie and I are about Mrs. Florendo joining us at our beloved St. James Parish and School.

Yours in Christ,

Msgr. Sylvester J. Cronin
