It is Saint James School’s understanding that the use of technology will always be an integral part of our students’ lives; it is our school’s responsibility to prepare students for this future and to help provide a strong spiritual and academic foundation in each child through modern means. Our classrooms currently have the equipment, technology, and technical support to allow teachers to use technology in their everyday lessons. As we integrate technology, we support the teaching and learning that promotes intellectual growth and life-long learning for students and staff.
The technology mission of Saint James School is to provide equitable access for all students and staff to appropriate technological resources. These resources promote the critical thinking, problem solving, and communication skills that are required for students to become life-long learners and productive citizens in a technologically complex, multicultural, and global environment.
In Grades K-4, academic software, word processing, and keyboarding skills are emphasized. Word processing, spreadsheets, database, keyboarding, presentation software, and Internet skills are the focus of Grades 5-8.
Internet access is available in every classroom, in the Computer Lab and on the Chromebooks assigned to middle school students. Computers are integrated into all subject areas. Interactive projectors and document cameras have also been added to each classroom for use across the curricula. In addition, to aid teachers and students in 21st century learning, the Google Apps for Education suite is used in Grades 5-8.
