Mrs. Mckenna-Murphy
This Fall at Saint James School our art program began at the very beginning. We asked ourselves, “What is creativity?” A student proudly answered, “Creativity is thinking with pictures.”
We explored the Life of Saint Catharine of Bologna, the patron saint of artists and offered our artistic work as a prayer of thanks for the gifts we have each been given. All creation after all, is a thank-you. We then created original sketches using pencil on paper entitled My Creativity.
Artists use many tools to express their ideas. We discovered shape and pattern as forms of communication in the creation of paper Trinity Flowers designed by the artist Amy Butler. We will continue to explore the ideas of expression and communication as we prepare for and participate in several regional art contests.
