Bienvenidos a la clase de espanol

All classes begin with a prayer said in Spanish. Grades 3-7 say the Hail Mary, grade 8 says the Our Father and grade 1-2 say the Glory Be. Students are expected to recite these prayers from memory.

Students in all grades are expected to recite a few facts about themselves name, age and how they are feeling. This recitation is progressively expanded to include day, date, season and current weather.

Students learn through three modes: interpretive, interpersonal and presentation. In the first mode students hear the target language spoken by the teacher and are able to follow simple directions. In the second mode the student gives back to the teacher by responding to questions or directions. In the third mode the student is able to present the target language in different ways: asking questions, writing complete sentences and singing songs.

Culture is also taught in grades 5-8 within the textbook sections and in the lower grades it is taught usually in the observance of holidays that we share.
