Lauren Conley, Olivia Gaibor and their Destination Imagination team, Learning with Love, will be competing at Destination Imagination’s Global Finals. Learning with Love is a group of six passionate girls from Basking Ridge who are working to break the gender inequality barrier. They want to ensure that every girl has an equal opportunity to do something great in the world and create a brighter future for themselves. As a team, they hosted a Winter Festival at Bishop Jane United Methodist Church to support Camden. They raised over $2,400 for the organization, which will provide education for ten girls in Africa for a year.
Global Finals takes place at the University of Tennessee and on average has more than 17,000 attendees which includes 8,000 students, 1,464 teams and supporting family members from 20 countries. The purpose of Destination Imagination (DI) is to inspire and equip students to become the next generation of innovators and leaders. DI is a cause-driven, volunteer-led non-profit organization which encourages teams of learners to have fun, take risks, focus and frame challenges while incorporating STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), the arts, and service learning. For more than 30 years, DI has helped more than 1.5 million kids tap into their creativity and learn the skills they need to build successful careers.
