Saint James School participates in MAP (Measured Academic Progress) testing three times throughout the year - Fall, Winter, and Spring - for students in grades 1 through 8. MAP is an adaptave assessment that measures students' achievement and growth in reading, mathematics, and language usage. Teachers at Saint James School use the data derived from the assessments to inform instruction, provide support or challenge, and to identify gaps in students' learning. Students are asked to try their best in these assessments so their teahcers have the best information possible to help them to learn and grow.
Fall 2024 Testing
The following graphs show average RIT scores for each grade in math, reading, and language usage (grades 2-8). As you can see, in every grade and every subject, our grade-averages outperform the nation and schools in the Diocese of Metuchen. In some cases, our grade-average RIT scores are higher than the next (and next) grade levels! Some more statistics:
In Math: 73% of our students are performing above the 60th percentile
In Reading: 75% of our students are performing above the 60th percentile
In Language Usage: 80% of our students are performing above the 60th percentile
Teachers are using the Fall testing data to develop student-centered goals for the remainder of the school year. Our goal, as always, is to use the MAP data to determine skill gaps, strengths, and challenges to develop plans to help every student learn and grow.
